Hello from Sawrey (Miss Potter village)

Far Sawrey lies in rolling farmland and wooded hillsides above Lake Windermere. It is the area where the "Miss Potter" film is based upon. This is a blog from the village shop, which is not dis-similar to the Beatrix Potter Ginger and Pickles Shop here in the heart of the village where Beatrix Potter lived and wrote her world famous stories including "The Tale of Peter Rabbit"

Good Afternoon from what can only be described as Soggy Sawrey...it has not stopped raining all day, the shop is soaked from all the walkers and their bags and their boots and their coats, all good fun........... I have 2 very important announcements to make
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER 1
Roger tells me that his big cockerel hen has been stolen from the village!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last seen in his garden behind Sawrey Stores and wearing a feathered coat,
Roger is absolutely distraught at not having the biggest one in Sawrey anymore
Any sightings please call Sawrey Stores immediately
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER 2
I owe an apology to the dog who's picture I posted on the blog several weeks ago, he is a SHE and SHE was not a happy pooch at been called a he. APOLOGIES!!!
Despite the bad weather it has been a steady day in the shop, when on the car ferry yesterday I overheard a child ask where the family were going to which the dad replied, we are going to see Harry Potter's mothers house! Made me smile :-)
Yesterday in the village there was a tea for all of the pensioners, it was held in the Braithwaite Hall, I am told a good do was had by all who attended, Norman who had the accident earlier in the year was not up to attending but was sent a plate of cakes and sandwiches, his face lit up when he told me! Well done to all who organised the afternoon
Thats about all for now folks...wherever you are in the world Mr Cockerel I hope your having a ball, but please come home soon, we miss you :-)
